Proceeds of the event will benefit TargetCancer Foundations rare cancer research efforts and Neglia Ballet Artists performances and CityDance Education Outreach Program.
Back by popular demand is an encore performance of last years premiere Theatrical Piece, "Madness and Agnes", by acclaimed choreographer Viktor Plotnikov, danced by Sergio Neglia, Michele Costa and Puppet Agnes (created by Michele Costa). If you missed last year, be sure not to miss out this year- you won't regret it!
The evenings SECOND PREMIERE will introduce a new Costa Puppet creation andbring the trio back together! Plotnikov, Neglia and Costa performed brilliantly last year we couldn't resist the inspiration to get these three artists back together- we don't know whats in store, but we know it too will have plenty of personality!
Sergio Neglia and puppet master Michele Costa, will add to the personality of the evening with a vibrant theatrical collaboration Choreographed by Viktor Plotnikov, this piece will intrigue you, capture your attention and truly showcase the mind of Sergio Neglia. Last year's performance was said to be "something special"...and this promises to be just as beautiful, if not more moving.
Dancing to Live is a premiere benefit performance in collaboration with TargetCancer. Buffalo natives, Heidi Halt (co-founder of Neglia Ballet), Paul Poth (founder of TargetCancer) and Clare Poth (Paul’s sister) developed a close friendship while attending Nichols High School together. Through the years these three supported each other, and grew to be like family. When Paul was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer, cholangiocarcinoma, it came as a shock to the whole family. With little known about his form of cancer his only choice was to take a “best guess” approach. He fought the disease with everything he had for close to two years. Along the way, he continued to care for his family, make his friends laugh, remain optimistic and truly embrace life. Paul passed away in 2009, but only after he also founded TargetCancer to ensure that others diagnosed with rare cancers will have real treatment options — and a chance to live.
When it was suggested that Neglia and TargetCancer Foundation host a joint fundraiser, there was no doubts, we just had to do it. Paul was a lover of dance, and strong supporter of Neglia’s CityDance Mission. This year marks a milestone for both organizations. In 2009, Paul passed away - but his memory and passion for public service remains strong- In honor of him and all those we've lost, we invite you to help us give others a chance to live. Together we have an opportunity to give life- through research- through dance- through the joy of living. Dancing to Live is more than just a fundraiser- it is a celebration of LIFE!
